of Iron Man and iron defieciency

My husband has been under lots of pressure (from just work I hope!). And when pressures are at their peak, he's very prone to acid reflux. And him skipping his lunch makes it worse.

We went to Klinik Kita about 2 weeks back and Dr Salmi insisted for a comprehensive blood test. Test for cancers included *gulp*. Tebby was supposed to go and give his blood for the test before we went balik kampung for PRU13 but he did not. Much to my annoyance. Wasn't it him that stressed the importance of keeping good health especially when you have dependents *imagine the children with their big soulful eyes*

Pinky promised (things we learn from growing children) he'd do just that (give blood) after we get back from Tgg, which is last Tuesday. (We were on forced-leave last Tuesday. There was an AGM held by the T* and we need to clear the parking space for stakeholders. Parking space is scarce even on normal working days, let alone if there's an AGM).

On Monday he hinted that we should go watch Iron Man 3 on Tuesday. I was ecstatic. It's Iron Man 3 peeps! But he didn't mention about blood test whatsoever. Either he forgot or he'd hope that I forgot :D, which I did not. Either way, before he could give me that big soulful eyes look, next thing I know, we were in the clinic :D

I am far from being a QC (queen control) (or so I thought) but a we just do what we have to do right. He needs big push when it comes to things concerning himself so I gave him that push.

Result came out yesterday.

Alhamdulillah my husband is one healthy man! Except 2 things which are not critical but need precaution. He has iron deficiency and a borderline cholesterol reading.

Dr Salmi said it's normal for certain people to have low level of iron and they can still function like normal human beings :D Since Tebby has a borderline cholesterol, let's not indulge on hati ayam and whatnots coz that will contribute to his cholesterol.

Recommended solutions: -
Exercise (which he has no problem doing)
Control the type of food he eats (errr...)
Take supplement of vitamin B Complex, Folic Acid and Fish Oil (sounds like supplements for a pregnant mom!)

By coincident, I have a bottle of Shaklee's Omega Guard in my office drawer and just bought Shaklee's B Complex with Folic Acid.

And I am putting my nurse cap on.............

After clinic, we had this.. meatballs Abang Burn Burger Bakar.
With potato wedges and loads of cheese.
Hey, am a new nurse!

Anyway, we did go and watched Iron Man 3.
Awesome.

Tebby turned 39!

Last Sunday that is!

Anyway, after work on Friday, two days ahead, we made an impromptu plan for a quiet celebration, just the two of us. Pit-stopped at MidValley (Where else! We are so predictable), had an early dinner at Madam Kwan.

Fried Kuetiaw for the him. Since he hadn't had lunch yet that day, we also had Fried Chicken (usually served with Madam Kwan's Nasi Bojari)

I had Grilled Lamb Chop. Tasty as usual. With loads of vege and fries!

Small bouquet of Calla Lily for him. Placed them near our little family photo at the living area.

And guess what? I made my first brownies for his birthday. Initially I planned to do a Blueberry Cheese Cake, a baked version with blueberry toppings and all.. but then I have baked 2 or 3 of them before. Why not divert to something else?

Happy Birthday Yang! We all love you loads! Especially me - always remember that :D

Brownies updates - I should've stick to Blueberry Cheese Cake. Birthday boy loves sourish cake.

mr Mama

Mr Mama ushered in 2013 with a cracked bone and a torn ligament, on his right hand. Had a fall from a free-standing ladder. I was in our rented house and he, in our house next-door. Heard a loud thump, followed by a metal crashing and his cries. I was expecting but hoping not for the worst. When I finally arrived at the scene, I saw his standing holding his right hand in his left. Funny when it felt like so long that I took to get from next door house. When panic strikes, that is exactly how it felt.

Asked Kakak to look after his brothers while waiting for my SIL to arrive. SIL lives just few houses away. When she arrived to the kids, Kakak was crying pools of tears. I was already on my way to Columbia Asia.

Long story cut short, after 2 MRI's, his right hand put in cast and scheduled for physiotherapy 3x a week. Alhamdulillah it doesn't call for operation and healing shall take via natural course. The cast is removable and now he is reduced to only wearing it during bedtime. A self-prescribed method, apparently.

The scene. He put up the ladder on this stair landing. When he was at top-most, the ladder wobbled and gave way. Thank God he did not roll his way down the stairs! Instead fell backwards on the landing.

Deep wound at the stairs railing. The Contractor mend the would, painted it back and it certainly looks like new now.

He's on MC now. And been acting like Mr Mama now. It is nice to be back home after a long day at work to freshly cooked rice and steaming bowl of Daging Goreng Sos Tiram and to see all dried laundry picked and put away in basket. I feel guilty about it, frankly. But let's just savor the moments, shall we? :D

boys' toys

Move away Transformers & Toy Hero Factory :D
My boys are into bricks and blocks these days. Latest addiction. Betterlah than Transformers (cheaper), and Toy Hero Factory (smaller parts -> finer motor skills assembling while the mother practising the same skills by mengutip all these when they are done)

A year or two back Iman won a big box of Lego from his participation @PDM event. It was supposed to be a scene of a workshop. It was laaa in the beginning. Then the boys demolished my workshop (my - because I built it :P) and they built cars, planes, robots. But that was it. They got bored very quickly so every bits and pieces were put in a zip-lock and dumped into their toy box. (more like I sorok that thing sebab the very the leceh to deal with small tiny miny bricks and blocks) It never really saw the light until recently. Thanks to YouTube. They found these Lego-thingy on the net and good hooked. Needless to say, my boys ransacked the toy box and the rest is history. Memang very historical pun. They fought over tires, steering wheel, caps and whatnots. Historical fight that is.

Boys, hard at work! :D
Adam bought this last weekend. Lego 3-in-1. Ingat nescafe aje ada 3-in-1.. Lego oso got. Blue Roadster. Mode panjang-kurus, mode ketot and mode pendek-gemok.

First mode on Sunday - mode pendek-gemok :D

Mode kedua, also on Sunday (isk), mode panjang-kurus. Since dia tak berapa reti lagi nak ikut instruction step-by-step, who else la kan. Ummi la buat tu....

Sampai rumah last Monday, dia siap bersila gini bukak kotak. Nak tukar mode. Adoi.. baru sampai rumah pastu Abang Kakak ada exam the next day, dia plak merengek nak buat mode lain. Sabarrrrrrr!!!!

Okay done! Mode ketot. Muka puas hati nun. Dia cuma cucuk tayar je, the rest Ummi buat :D

This one pulak, Iman's pick. This is Kre-O from Hasbro.2 modes based on Transformers Autobot Jazz. Car or robot. He did the car first.

Proudly showing off his work (with help from Tebby.. or was it the other way around? :P) Errr... boys, cuba tiru Kakak kat belakang nun, gigih buat revision (ke melukis?)

Later he wanted to tukar mode into robot and guess what? One piece is missing. All eyes on Adam because he was messing with that box earlier. I found that piece last night amongst other toys but it was already bedtime so KIV dulu ya Iman.

And this, bought by the oldest, biggest boy in the house. I just don't get it. As much as he doesn't get it when I need 4 pairs of black shoes and perhaps another 2 pairs of brown ones. So we're even. Just don't frown when I buy some more shoes :D

The very the thick. Worth the money he said. Justifying. I've been waiting for so longggg for this he further added (while hugging the book). Eyes beamed with happiness and I thought I saw some sparks of affection in his eyes! Seriously.

Boys.. they never grow up.

Tips - When kids are playing toys with small parts, let their creativity go wild while they sit on a piece of big cloth. A blanket or bedsheet will do. Easier to kutip balik and to tidy up.
