easy peasy pizza

More like nak-buat-pizza-tapi-malas-nak-explore-macamana-nak-buat-dan-malas-nak-uli-doh :D

Used slices of Gardenia bread, cut away the crust. Slapped on 2 tablespoon of Prego's pasta sauce on each slice. Then tepek slices of Ramli's beef sausages. Tabur 2 types of cheese - parmesan and mozarella.

Bake them at 170d. After 15 minutes, ready to eat.

So laku that I did the second batch for next morning breakfast :D

Of course lah kena ambik feedback kan. So I asked Kakak..
Kakak, okay tak pizza Ummi buat?
Okay.
Sama tak rasa macam Domino's? (we always order Domino's these days)

Takkkkk
Sebab lagi sedappp Ummi buaattt

awwww......

My little helper. Tukang tabur cheese. Separuh atas roti, separuh masuk perut dia... I notice dia ni suka ke dapur. Iman pun dulu cam tu jugak.. sampailah dia discover the wonders of iPad :P

Anyway, the easy peasy pizza is now in the list for bekal kids to school :D

2.3.13 food - lamb marinade :: sup tulang

Did a make ahead weekday-dinner. Lamb shoulders. Marinade - salt, pepper, a little sugar, rosemary, oregano, garlic (most recipes say crushed garlic but I used MasterFood's Garlic Powder), bay leaves, juice from half a lemon and olive oil. Quantiti main agak-agak only. Lamb shoulders are resting in the fridge right now. Shall update the outcome later :D

Tebby made Sup Tulang for lunch. Simple but sumptuous. Easy peasy. Tulang and cubes of beef as well as potatoes. Makan sama Sambal Lada Kicap. My version - finely sliced cili burung, kicap kipas udang (manis), kicap cair (masin), a little sugar and juice from limau nipis.

Now that we have a Noxxa Multifunction Pressure Cooker, making soup has never been this easy :D At a friction of the usual 2-3 hours time (for sup tulang)

Nothing beats homecooked meals no matter how simple they are. Agree?

saturday leftover-dinner!

How was your Saturday?

Mine,a trip outside pegi breakfast then to clinic. Kakak is feverish since Friday when we picked up the kids at their taska. The rest of the day spent at home, minding chores, watching movies et cetera.

Had simple lunch at home, fully prepared by Tebby. Teamwork peeps! While he was at that, I vacuumed the whole house. And later I sorted out our house keys (after almost one month ha ha!), he washed the porch.I have to admit the latter part seems a bit unfair hi hi.

Had an even lighter dinner just now. Kakak wanted plain white bread with mushroom soup. The boys had sausages with white bread. Tebby had chicken sandwich while I went a notch higher with egg chicken sandwich.

Carbo, protein.. Too bad there were no more lettuce or timun or tomato left in the fridge. Anyway, the chicken was leftover from dinner last week. I made Roasted Lemon Butter Chicken that was not entirely finished. Sliced, tossed in olive oil and later reheated. Anddd voila.. dinner!

I hope tomorrow I can run to BIS Ingredients nearby. Intend to bake a Blueberry Cheesecake. But see la how it goes :D

sempoi lunch (but fulfilling nonetheless!)

Did not manage to go anywhere this long CNY break (with an exception of a mall visit to MidValley on Sunday though). First and foremost, Tebby's hand is not fully recovered yet. Adam had a fever and this morning, I woke up to baddd back-pain. I've been relatively well for a long time. I think the last time I felt really awful was early 2011. I had one or two asthma attack in between, but overall - I am okay. That is something I really need to thank Allah.

Anyway. Went to the clinic, had 2 ketotop pasted on my back and later popped in a celebrex. Lied down for half hour then I was all well to prepare for lunch. A simple one. Regardless how you drool over Chili's Molten Lava or gawk at Tony Roma's Lamb's Rack or savor the chicken at Popeye's, nothing beats homecooked meals. Me think the concept of air tangan has some truth to it. Mother's or father's, regardless.

Tebby helped me with Sambal Sotong Kering while I mind my Salad-ala-Kedai-Nasi-Arab :D Fried Kembong and the infamous Budu with slice of lime, cili and sliced shallots. I think the sotong kering were in the fridge for years! Time to move on ha ha. Sambal it is then! Soak in hot water to soften them up as well as to get rid of the smell.

There were aging tomatoes in the fridge. And a cucumber, almost kecut oredi. Buang biji and diced. Added with sliced cili burung and cili besar. Perah half a lemon. Added with salt and sugar to taste. Think it'll be better off with some coriander leaves. Next time maybe :D

easy-peasy (or lazy?) dinner :P

We rarely have full-fledged dinner. That's a habit from Tebby's side. Heavy breakfast, heavy lunch and light dinner. Though I adopt that idea and practice that (and we have sort-of passed it down to the kids), I would always be the old-me whenever we go balik kampung - my kampung. Rice for dinner. Full-fledged dinner with hot steaming white rice, lauk and sayur. Sambal kuini or bacang when they are in season or sambal tempoyak. Homemade sambal tempoyak! Just can't resist sambal, petai, jering, ulam kampung.. And my mom's fried fishes are always the best. Same fish, same cooking method but done by different people always turn out differently. Agreed?

Anyway, back in KL, light dinner. Example, scrambled-egg with sardine. The kids favorite. They always finished this off when done by Tebby and politely said they are full and leave some portions whenever it was my turn preparing that :P

Easy peasy vege. Tasted at Isetan they other day and we're hooked (we = me and Kakak). Heat some garlic-butter, add some mushroom, stir-fry kejap and siap!

Scrambled-egg with sardine sandwich and fried mushroom. Simple, easy but fulfilling dinner. Or lazy dinner. Whichever ways you see it :D

project lasagna in the house

Remember this? Thalia frozen lasagna that we bought from Cold Storage Alamanda? It has vegetables - corn, carrots, green peas - much to Iman's irritation. And he doesn't eat vege.

So I decided to do my own version of lasagna. For the meat sauce, the same ingredients and cooking method as beef bolognese sauce. Large onion, Prego ready-to-cook pasta sauce, Ramly ground beef, canned mushroom. Let it be a little watery to soak the pasta sheet while baking later.

Seen above before baking it. Layered with white sauce. White sauce contains butter, flour, milk and cheese. I used 2 sheets of cheese. Yep, the ones that we eat with bread. Too kedekut to buy mozarella. Why so mahal? Did not dare to use almost-RM20-per-pack cheese for my first trial, I opted for cheaper version. Less 'berlemak' feeling. But the drawback is that, when you cut this baby, no cheese stringing here and there. Less sexy I think :D

Tadaaaa!! Cooked. Well, you know the proverb - do not judge the book by its cover. So tak cantik. The word sexy is so not to describe this :D

White sauce not evenly distributed - Adam did the top layer. (alasan!)
Baking dish is not deep enough - time to get a proper one (ting!)
I should have covered this with aluminium foil, no?

Oh ya, I did not measure the baking dish with the oven. It could not fit the oven just by milimetres! Then I tried putting it 'membujur'.. please... please... please... let this fit in. Let this fit in. Alhamdulillah.. muat! Cukup2 je kepanjangan untuk tutup pintu over. Next action - get a new bigger oven (ting!)

But honestly, sedap. The best lasagna, Kakak cakap. Ahh kids. Jangan puji-puji sangat, kang tetiap minggu Ummi buat hihi.

Anyway, I used this San Remo Instant Lasagna sheets. No need to soak or blanch. Just layer this between meat sauce and white sauce.

Resepi? Ada kat belakang kotak nun..

little western dinner

Little western dinner the other night.

Went to Alamanda earlier that day and did some groceries shopping at Cold Storage. If it was a full-blast groceries shopping we would have opted for Carrefour actually. More selections and most importantly, affordable. That day we just needed to buy some provisions to fill up the fridge. So we went to Cold Storage. A promo stall with samples of lasagne was there. Kids tested and liked. Ahhh.. thank you. I've been thinking on adding more variations to kids bekal and dinner menu. Allah Answered my prayer! :D Lasagne it is then.

I don't own a microwave oven. Not yet. *ahem* *hint*. I set my little oven to 185d and pop these into it for around 20-30 minutes.

Pan fried beef. Bought a pack of marinated beef at their reduce to clear section. Half of its original price and perhaps half of freshness as well. Ala... pekasam ikan lagi lama perap, sedap jugak kan. Shown above in its original color, no lighting technique whatsoever. Gelap tapi sedap :D

Some greens and reds. Too lazy to whip up fried vegetables so here's kerabu mat saleh or better known as salad. Butterhead lettuce with cherry tomatoes. It was all healthy until I splashed ceaser's dressing and added slices of marinated beef, carefully choosing ones with fats attached!
