of eid and a birthday do

My girl turned 13.

On 8th August.

Yeah, it took me that long to update on that.
Be assured Kakak, we love you loads and Happy 13th Birthday!

How time flies. I remember when she was small, with hair so thick, straight and black, eyes so wide and smile so cunning. And now she stands as tall as I am (I am short btw) and she is as curious as a cat can be, on topics I do not have answers for. Russian history, famous female fighters from ancient time, and she claims she can read a cat's emotion just by looking at the tail.

She invited some close friends the following Saturday and I baked Kek Nanas cuppies version with buttercream on top. Buttercream was a tad bit too sweet and not so nicely piped. We invited some friends in the neighborhood and my SIL for makan-makan raya as well. Just a small do with simple everyday menu.

Cleared the other-wise berserabut coffee table. Bought bekas kuih raya with wooden lid from Metrojaya and I arranged them in a metal tray bought dirt-cheap at KK Home Deco during one of my trips to PDM Ampang Hilir years ago.

Some chocolates in a glass vase. The vase is one of three, a wedding present I got from my housemates in Vista Angkasa. And grapes in a salad bowl. Pagi tu sempat pegi nursery kejap cari pokok bunga. Too bad the next day semut dah berkerumun and I had to transfer it outside.  

Nasi Goreng (first to finish, we topped up with fried bihun), fried chicken wings, Kek Gula Hangus and sambal kicap.

Made Spaghetti Bolognese as well. I also did Jelly Custard but not in picture. Last guests left at 10:30 pm. Tired? Yes. Happy? Indeed.

Anyway.

Adam turns 6!

Adam turned 6 last Sunday. Co-incidently it was Mother's Day as well. But of course, he stole the limelight he he.

We bought spiderman cake that he's been pestering us for days. Nasib la ada bakery still ambik order the day before his birthday. Else, I'll have to do it myself and I have a feeling it was going to be a sepai-derman cake!

Earlier on that day, we went to Pasar Borong Selangor for some fresh provisions. Halfway from Cheras, Tebby's car honked endlessly that we had to turn back and get my car. Too much attention from a honking car, especially when the traffic was clear! For lunch, Tebby did Steamed Crab. Worth all the trouble (and to endure the honking!) going to pasar I tell you.

eid 2013 ii - a very hearty strawberry birthday!

Hearty Strawberry Cheese cake for the birthday girl. that was the best deco that I could do he he. 

Coincidently, 1st Eid 2013 that fell on 8th August was also Kakak's 12 birthday. In anticipation of that, I baked a Strawberry Cheesecake for her birthday and brought that right up from KL to Tgg.. siap transit kat Temerloh lagi :D

It feels like just yesterday when I first held her in my arms, looking those chubby cheeks and abundant of hair! And just few days back, she was cutting her cake on her 12th birthday! How time flies.

It was a rather 'quiet' Eid in Tebby's kampung. Unlike previous years, almost non-stop flow of relatives, friends and children came. I wonder if death of our elders makes us grow apart?

 

Adam turns Five!

Adam turned 5 last Saturday. He was ecstatic. Especially at getting his own birthday cake :D When I was doing a brownie for Tebby's birthday last month, Adam specifically told me

Nanti birthday Adam, Ummi buat kek Avengers ya..
*gulp*

Not wanting to frustrate him, I resorted to ordering from the expert :D I haven't bake a proper cake my whole life, let alone an Avengers cake, making one was not a good idea me think. I practically begged ha ha. It was a 2-days notice! Finally I got a simple choc-cake from SantaiGitu. K Hazit, (the owner) and I used to stay together @Vista Angkasa during our bujang days. 

We had a mini celebration form him at home. Coincidently he wore a tee with number 5! He was indeed happy. Blowing candles, eating a slice of cake or two. We had fun. My other 2 children already placed order cakes of their choice this coming August (birthday Kakak) and November (Iman) :D

Here, let me bring you down the memory lane..

Adam just after birth. Born 11th May 2008, coincidently Mother's Day for that year. Weighing 3.74kg, he was delivered at wee hour in the morning @Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital.

2009 - One year old. Owhhh such a cutiee pie!

2010 - Two years old.

2011 - 3 years old. He's becoming cheeky!

2012 - 4 years old. Celebrated @Secret Recipe. 

Happy Birthday Adam. Though sometimes we can't cope with your antics and all, we're absolutely thankful having you in the family. Be a good boy and we love u loads!

Tebby turned 39!

Last Sunday that is!

Anyway, after work on Friday, two days ahead, we made an impromptu plan for a quiet celebration, just the two of us. Pit-stopped at MidValley (Where else! We are so predictable), had an early dinner at Madam Kwan.

Fried Kuetiaw for the him. Since he hadn't had lunch yet that day, we also had Fried Chicken (usually served with Madam Kwan's Nasi Bojari)

I had Grilled Lamb Chop. Tasty as usual. With loads of vege and fries!

Small bouquet of Calla Lily for him. Placed them near our little family photo at the living area.

And guess what? I made my first brownies for his birthday. Initially I planned to do a Blueberry Cheese Cake, a baked version with blueberry toppings and all.. but then I have baked 2 or 3 of them before. Why not divert to something else?

Happy Birthday Yang! We all love you loads! Especially me - always remember that :D
 

Brownies updates - I should've stick to Blueberry Cheese Cake. Birthday boy loves sourish cake.

2 birthdays and a cake!

Sibuk dengan urusan duniawi sampai terlupa hal yang ini :P
This is written on 7th November but I backdated it to its actual date so I won't feel too bad about it :D

Tarikh 3 November, bersamaan 20 Ramadhan, 8 tahun lepas, Muhammad Iman was born @APSH. A hard and painful labor-room experience, albeit being the second time.

Since we were going back balik kampung celebrating Eid Adha, and my father turned 72 on that very day, so we thought we could have joint-celebration. Why not kan. Afterall, my siblings and the kids' cousins were there as well (and we had kambing bakar!!) 

Creme Brulee Cheesecake from Secret Recipe. It was a hit (except for Tebby who's not so much of a cake person). Sedap, lemak berkrim (my tagline for sedap food) - the birthday boy even mintak simpan sikit for him to savour later :P
