a little package from Glitzy Gurlz

Online shopping is my middle name. It excites me to receive packages once in a while (once in while la sangat kan, sampai brader Poslaju kalau berselisih kat luar pun buleh tegur menegur :D)

After been browsing, I finally had the guts to place my order for a bangle. Ever wonder why you look better in a cosmetic shop but once you step out, voila.. reality hits! It's called lighting peeps. This FB (http://www.facebook.com/glitzygurl) posted drooling photos and I had hoped the gorjes-ness was not due to lighting. Instead of ordering all all things that caught my eyes (which is a lot :P), I ordered for just one. Cuba dulu kan.

The bangle arrived few days later and myyy.... my heart jumped! Out from the ordinary plastik Poslaju, out came a box with elaborate ribbon dressing (elaborate la for a simple person like me). I loike! I loike! A little effort will go a loonggg way.

And under a thin layer of paper, there's my bangle. Tak menghampakan. Let's just say this photo doesn't do justice to. In short, I love it.

Now I can order some more. I did say a little effort will go a loongggg way. Kan?

(cleansing) oil + SK-II

Abu Usaid menceritakan yang Rasulullah pernah berkata, "Makanlah minyak zaitun dan berminyaklah dengannya. Minyak zaitun berasal daripada pohon yang diberkati." Direkodkan oleh At-Tirmidzi.

You see, of late I haven't really taken care of my skin (facial included) lately although I routinely make my monthly visit to Herbaline. I develop dry skin and occasional jerry. Amoi Herbaline pun tanya why my facial skin is so dry now. Most probably due to ageing (90%), working in air-cond office during the day and later sleeping in air-cond room at night. The jerry, them scar, stay for long! Not good. Not good.

I have taken 2 steps now: -
Step 1
Incorporate one more step in facial cleansing - wash hands, wash face with tap water, massage with Tupperware's Nutri Rich Oil (Apricot Oil) or Bertolli's Olive Oil (yes, the one for cooking/salad :P), finish with Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleanser and then rinse off with warm water.

Step 2
Bought SK-II range (again) from Best Buy. You see, I've used its Skin Signature moisturiser. Done with a small tub, due to being gatal nak tukar, I switched to Estee Lauder (too heavy for me, and it made my skin itched) then to a cheaper version, Hada Labo (despite being a moisturizer, it dried up my skin!) I have also tried the much-talked about Safi Rania Gold but small tiny miny bumps appear on my face... And now I am back to SK-II.

And I hope I can keep up with Step 3 - ISTIQOMAHHH!

To be frank, I did not go to SK-II's counter for consultation. I did mine online, here and bought the products based on recommendations (of course after picking those suitably within my budget :D) I use SK-II's Stempower before bed and Cellumination during the day. Both absorb well with gentle massage and patting on the skin. Don't ask me if it goes well with make-up because my definition of make-up is - pressed powder and lipstick.

It's been 2 days. Too soon to be jumping about with joy (OR cry) with the result. But my facial skin is definitely not dry anymore. It feels moist, not oily. I hope the effect will last and so will my motivation :D

tea tree for jerry-woes

I am officially dealing with teenager hormonal woes - Numero uno - jerry-woes! We only have one teenager at home so take your lucky guess.

Small zits near her nose and her forehead. They come and go and after a while on Cetaphil as cleanser and a light dot of my obat jerawat (it says not to be used by under 12 but she'll be 12 this August so I guess a light dot wouldn't make much difference on the 3-4 months age gap :P), I decided to take one step further...

So here.. things specifically for her jerry-woes - Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and Tree Tree Oil from The Body Shop.

And, in my usual fussy-mother mode, I make sure she wash her hands before washing her face and that she apply the oil before bed every night.

2 days later she made an announcement - It works Ummi. Jerawat Kakak dah kecut.
So, it works! Now I should use hers instead :D

And ooohh, please use separate tower to lap your face please!

Told y'all, I am fussy like that..

tudung syria - Chenta Qaseh

While I was in Cameron Highlands last week, my tudung syria from Chenta Qaseh safely made their way to my office. Overwhelmed with my Brinchang experience, strawberry, keledek and jagung shopping, I had almost forgotten that I was expecting a parcel :D When I stepped in the office last Monday, my heart jumped with joy at seeing a Poslaju pack on my table. My heart always does that whenever I see one anyway hihi.

Did I mention their? As in referring to plural? :P

I ordered not one but four! You see, if I order 1 piece, I would still have to pay the same amount if I order 3 or 4 pieces. Let's save up on postage fee and I ordered 4. I know, I am merely justifying but still.. I loikeee!

Wrapped in the usual plastic cover. Neatly fold, every piece in similar manner, almost to same size. I have an eye for details you know. Little things matter to me.

Let me introduce you to these girls. From left to right - Khaki, Burlywood Brown, Crimson Pink and Deep Grey. Priced at RM35.00 each, with postage of RM8.00, these girls cost me RM148.00.

:: Made of Korean Lycra. Feels almost like stretchable cotton. Cooling and falls nicely.
:: The size is just right (at least to me) with bukaan muka approximately 52cm, back length 70cm and length from chin below is 50cm. Not only cover dada, when I had it on, the tip reached way down to my midriff. Perut oso cover hihi.. The width (from shoulder to shoulder) is also just right.

Free gift! With my previous order, I got a free ordinary inner neck in lilac. This time purplish, almost like the color of an aubergine.

ni lah rupa tudung syria yang ai beli..

From the look of it, I think me and Chenta Qaseh shall have an everlasting relationship :D

inner-neck - Chenta Qaseh

A package from Chenta Qaseh arrived yesterday at my office. A good one, to kick off the week huh? Bought 4 inner-necks. These are to ganti my badly shrunk inner-neck. I know that cotton (I go for cotton inner-neck) shrinks after wash but never had I thought some can shrink so bad that only a little cloth left and they barely stand for their name anymore - inner-neck as they barely cover your neck after rounds in washing machine :D

Don't you just love details? Though packed in the ordinary plastic, it has a nice sticker at the opening. And a free gift! Who wouldn't love free items? Especially when you can use it with comfort :D When I opened it up, so wangi! Not that sweet, fruity, intense kind of perfume. The smell is just right.

Inner-neck - greenish grey, black beauty, olive green and turquoise blue. Free item - ordinary inner in lilac. Inner neck priced at RM25 each, postage RM8 = RM108.

Neat seams - 3 benang. Stitching along the edge is aligned nicely. Material is not as soft as the ones I bought from Al-Humaira Contemporary but not stiff either. If you go for lekap style, then don't go for something too soft. It's hard to shape the awning. At least to me la.

Love the size. Appropriate as an inner. Since it's quite labuh and besar, makanya akan berjemaah lah ai dengan anak dara ai pakai ni. I, as inner, she as outer. And even if it shrinks, I can still have peace of mind cos it's still gonna be big even when it's smaller :D

shawl-licious!

I remember way back in 2001 when I was in confinement after delivery of Kakak, 2 bulan memerap kat rumah amat menjimatkan duit :D

But not anymore.

These days even tak keluar rumah pun can pokai meh. These online thingy, you can shop at any time of the day, any day of the week! You can shop at wee hour after Subuh prayer or when you're lying down about to sleep with bedak sejuk on your face!

And voila, after 2 or 3 days, Mr Postman comes bringing things that bring smile to your face (or frown!)

Let's just say I am one of the victims. The voluntary victim :D

Bought these gorgeous shawls last week. RM28.00 each + RM7.00 postage. Well, *ahem* it is better to buy more than one shawls to jimat postage right?

Now, let me introduce these babies - (left to right) Light French Beige, Thistle and Light Steel Blue which translate into medium cocoa, pink-purple and light grey-blue.

Each measures at 200cm x 53cm with half moon shape at both ends. After twisting around, you'll have a nice half round shape in front and at the back. I have tried on Light French Beige last Friday. It flows and falls nicely without hugging my body shape (Like lycra. Some lycra hugs) and it is big enough to give ample coverage.  (I am 53kg and stand at 152cm) Love it.

This is what 'half moon on both ends' means. I do not know what kind of fabric these babies are made of. Some of my friends says macam kain lining baju :D But okaylah for a RM28 shawl. Of course the material is not comparable with those chiffon from Radiusite (web www.radiusite.com) and Sugarscarf (web www.sugarscarfbyriqa.com). But as the name implies, 'Essential Scarf' is one of must-have, essential staples in wardrobe. At least in mine laaa kan.

Essential Scarf is offered by Shawl by V Snow (http://www.shawlbyvsnow.blogspot.com).

accessorize!

I am in one of those phases again. This time - accessory!

At times like these (when 916 is freaking expensive), let's just satisfy the lust by buying costume ones :D

Turquoise RM10, Marcasite RM50. Both are love at first sight. I have always believed in love at first sight when buying things (under RM100 that is!). But in choosing a spouse, always take a second, third, fourth look. In short, take as many looks as you can before deciding :D
The same stall sells gold-look-alike rings and bangles but I felt I'd be cheating on myself too much by buying that. I passed.

RM28 for that brownish purplish and RM19 for that rustic looking one.

All damages incurred at Amcorp's Flea Market.

St. Ives Craze!

I am in one of those phases again :P

Overboard.

Latest being St. Ives haul!I remember I once used its apricot scrub some 10-15 years ago. Masa tu rasanya apricot scrub was apricot scrub. These days there's few variations just for apricot! For blemish, gentle, ageing yada yada yada. Confused? I am :D

My haul last week:-
1. Apricot Scrub Gentle for Kakak
2. Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub .
3. Renew & Refirm Apricot Scrub
4. 24-hour Moisture Lotion
5. Exfoliating Apricot Body Wash
6. Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Wash

My daughter is 11 this year and she has started to get those whiteheads (yikes!) and small pimples on her face. When I was in my teens and 20's, I had clear skin. In fact I never had proper skincare regime until I was mid 20's. But I was okay. Back then, sabun LUX could do. A single bar of LUX for whole body, from top to toe, so to speak! Sent a message to SKII if I can share my FTE with Kakak. Response - she has to wait for another 7 years! The product is not recommended to use by under 18. :D :D I bought Cetaphil cleanser for Kakak some months ago (as recommended by a pharmacist).

The most challenging part was to get that thing into her routine. After some months, she finally gets it - wash face twice daily with Cetaphil. And now I added up another thing for her - Apricot Scrub Gentle (for sensitive skin). Scrub in the morning. Cetaphil in the evening. I saw the tube in the bathroom she usually bathe in. I hope it doesn't just sit there. I'll check again tonight :D

As for moi, I have started using 4 items. Kenot wait. So gelojoh want to try all :P

On alternate days I use Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub. In between, it's Cetaphil. After a week I notice my facial skin is a bit itchy tho less oily (i have normal-oily skin). The area around my nose is menggelupas. Tak banyak la, sikit aje. Tolerable and I hope this is temporary.

Exfoliating Apricot Body Wash is more of a body-wash than exfoliator. It has very very gentle beads. Small ones too. I barely feel their presence. Guess that's normal for someone who's used to sugar and salt scrub! The smell is nice and sweet but it doesn't linger.

My relationship with 24-hour Moisture Lotion almost ended right in the beginning. I have made my research before actually go out and buy. I intended to buy its Replenishing Mineral Therapy variation but couldn't find on the the shelves. The SA there assured me that was an old product packaging and the newer replacement is 24-hour Moisture Therapy. I was sold into believing, when are in fact, two different variations :D The texture is rather heavy and rich and I have to really rub to get it absorbed. But once absorbed, it's not sticky, not oily, not filmy. I like! Sans the hardwork to rub it in that is :P The smell is so-so only. But it lived up to its name. I am moisturized aaaaaaaalllllllllll dddaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy looongggggggg........

On days I am too lazy to slap on the body lotion, I showered with Oatmeal & Shea Body Butter Wash. Unlike my Exfoliating Apricot Scrub, this one doesn't lather up much. It has creamy texture and smells delicious... Imagine oatmeal and butter... hemmmmmmmm!!! Better not use during puasa :D After shower, I am all cleaned and moisturized. No need for body lotion anymore.

Aaaaaaanywaayyyyy, I am one flip-flop person. Sometimes I am so rajin with all those. On malas days, a bar of soap will do... top to toe.
